How Cuneiform works

Every video here is cryptographically signed on the device that filmed it, so anyone can confirm a real camera captured it. No AI, no fakes.

The steps

  1. Your device makes a key. A unique P-256 key pair is generated and kept in secure hardware on your phone.
  2. The server issues a challenge. Before you record, a one-time cryptographic nonce is issued, so a clip cannot be pre-made or replayed.
  3. You film in-app. The video is captured inside the app, with no substitutions possible.
  4. Your device signs it. The video hash, the nonce, and optional location are signed with your private key. On supported iPhones, Apple App Attest also proves it was the genuine app on genuine hardware.
  5. Anyone can verify. The signature and badge let any viewer confirm the clip is authentic, without trusting us.

What the badges mean

Cryptographically SignedSigned with the uploader's device key (P-256 / ECDSA).
C2PACarries a valid C2PA content credential inside the file.
App AttestedApple App Attest confirms a genuine app on genuine Apple hardware.

Why it matters

AI video generation has made it easy to fabricate realistic footage. Cuneiform creates a cryptographic chain of custody from the camera to the viewer, so real footage can be proven rather than guessed.
